URBIO abstract

As you are no doubt aware Cape Town is currently experiencing a drought. Our conference which is set for early September follows on closely from our winter rainfall months which means we will not be in crisis mode during our conference. Even if our winter rainfall is as low as our record low experienced in 2017 we will still have time in hand at that point to be putting new crisis measures in place. As matters stand the City is putting in desalination plants and exploring ground water options. We will certainly expect all delegates to follow water saving measures, and will make it clear to conference delegates what they can and should do to help the City of Cape Town conserve water. Indeed it will be some years before our dam levels are back to normal. We do not anticipate the current drought impacting on our conference.
