Urban Food Security and Agriculture Tour

This tour will entail a half day tour exploring the terrains of the City of Cape Town as connecting food access to ecology, history, and culture. We will traverse various landscapes to emphasize these themes, from coastal spaces, urban farms, and cityscapes. This tour will be led by Zayaan Khan who researches food through various lenses such as socio-political, education, environmental, art, and culture. She will provide insights on current research and debates in this area in Cape Town and provide stimulating opportunities for discussion in the field. More details to follow.

Urban Ecology Research in Cape Town

This tour will entail a half day tour of interesting urban ecology research sites across the City of Cape Town. The tour will be led by local urban ecologist Dr Pippin Anderson and will take participates to a variety of sites that show case urban ecology in Cape Town that will provide opportunities to discuss the challenges of urban conservation, biodiversity resource use, and issues of access and justice, among others. The field trip will engage a number of relevant players in the field. More details to follow.
